• What does biodegradable mean?
  • When something is biodegradable it means it’s capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms. After you dispose of Pixie Dust glitter down the drain it takes only six months to fully biodegrade and isn’t harmful to the environment or wildlife in the meantime.
  • Is it safe for kids?
  • If you accidentally swallow some glitter it is not harmful in any way. It is softer and less irritating than plastic glitter on your skin and around your eyes making it safe for children and even pets!
  • How is it different from regular glitter?
  • Regular glitter, found in cosmetic products and in craft stores, is made of very tiny pieces of plastic. They will never decompose and are harmful to our aquatic ecosystems and marine life. Pixie Dust is made from eucalyptus cellulose film (the fatty part of the plant).
  • Will it dissolve on my skin if I sweat or in a jar of water?
  • NO! It will only begin to biodegrade in the presence of microorganisms found in the dirt or waste water. Pixie Dust can last years in its glass jar, then once applied it will hold its shape and sparkle the whole day until you wash it off with water.
  • Where do you get your glitter from?
  • I invested in biodegradable glitter after having a difficult time finding some here in Nola. Most of my glitter comes from a Bioglitter bulk supplier. My goal is to have it be affordable and easily accessible in New Orleans.
